The last thing this TV needed was another 5 star review, but I just had to give my 2 cents. This is my first big screen television and after doing plenty of research there was no question that this was the set for me. I bought in September, hoping that I'd be watching the Cubs in the World Series on it. Oh well, that didn't go as planned, but I then had it for football season. Just amazing picture. I have a home theatre, so audio was never used. I have a PS3 and it looks spectacular.

I will say that you should never buy Monster Cables for HDMI. Go to amazon and look at HDMI cables. I bought the SUPER cheap ones for 2 bucks plus shipping. They are good overall. Serviceable. I know that a lot of people believe that a digital signal is a digital signal and I'm not an engineer so I can't argue. I was having issues with my PS3 HDMI with red lines and I'd have to shake the cable a bit, but hey, I spent [...] bucks on cables. I decided to buy a couple MEDIABRIDGE 1.3 cables for 10 plus shipping. The picture is just as good, but the cable is much MUCH sturdier than the super cheap one. When you hold the 2 in your hands there is a noticeable difference in weight and how much more solid the mediabridge is. I highly recommend it.

70" Widescreen Tv HD-ila

I've had this television for about two years now. When I purchased it they were around five thousand dollars. I've seen them for sale now for about three thousand recently. I think this is owing to the television being only 780p, versus 1080i or 1080p. Unless you are planning on viewing a lot of blu-ray or hd dvd's, be aware that even the best signal from a dvd or satelitte, won't get you to 1080i. This being said the television is terrific in bright light, which is why I purchased it in the first place. The combination of an extremely bright picture and an anti-reflective coating on the screen means you can watch the screen even with direct sunlight on the screen. The one issue I had with the JVC, is the first bulb burned out at six months. I had purchased an extended warranty, so I was covered. The tech came out and changed it in about five minutes. Since then the second bulb has been going for about a year and a half. At two hundred a pop, I would seriously recommend getting the warranty. Other than that, awesome TV, your visitors will be shocked at the sheer enormity of the screen. 4 times the screen size of a 42" plasma, think about it...Buy 70" Widescreen Tv HD-ila!

I purchased this screen to use in my living room theater. It is functional but not outstanding. It is worth what I paid for it. The instructions were not the best but set-up was still fairly easy. The only real problem is that it came with a large but very slight discoloration. I think it's probably from getting wet at some point during shipping. The screen cloth is in the washing machine as I type this; if the stain remains I will not be happy. UPDATE: The discoloration/stain is gone after washing, all is well.

Pros:
Much cheaper than other screens in this size.

Machine washable screen surface.

Easy to remove/reinstall once wall clips are properly mounted.


Cons:
Flimsy screen border, if you don't position the four included wall clips exactly right the screen will not stay on the wall.

Only comes with four wall clips, six would be much better, eight would be perfect.

The features and functionality of this unit are pretty complete overall. The combination of iPod dock and time projection at this price makes it attractive, if that's what you are seeking, especially considering the lack of alarm volume control reported on the Excalibur 134BK Soundmaster and the host of issues associated with the HoMedics SS-7000.
However, the Emerson has its share of notable nits.
1) The sensor function used for snoozing is very cool but dangerous if you wish to avoid oversleeping. The range is too far and if the unit "senses" you within 2 feet, it will immediately snooze at the designated alarm time before the iPod can even turn on and wake you. The sensitivity can be moderated with a piece of Scotch tape placed half way over the sensor, but this is a bit unreliable as well.
2) The buttons for setting alarms, etc. are loud. If your partner goes to bed before you and you need to adjust the alarm setting, you risk waking him/her with the loud clicking noises.
3) On the particular unit I bought (and returned) the time projection was faulty. I would hope this to be an anomaly but it's certainly a concern regarding quality.
If you can get past the sensor issue and loud buttons, then you might be happy with this unit. I ultimately splurged and invested a few more coins for the equivalent but far superior Gigaware product, which can be found at the Radio Shack website.Buy Emerson iPod Projection Clock Radio - IC172!

This is a good TV. I've owned mine for about 3.5 years. The picture is good, and DVDs with a progressive scan player play great in 480p. Regular TV is what you'd expect with a projection TV, and the angles are really not that bad.

Two cons, though. The TV has a great deal of depth dimension. This has gotten way better for TVs, recently, but still even for its time was deeper than most projection TVs. If I hadn't "carved" out a locaton for its bulk, it would be a room hog.
The second con is this: 1080i stinks. When I got this TV, most DVD players (and computer video cards, for that matter) were 480p, for TV output. Recently I got a HD computer video card and tried hooking it up, thinking 1080i would be fine. It's not. The flicker was horrendous. I tried switching to 720p, it's not available. At the time I purchased, it was "from 480i to 1080i capable" the only supported modes are 480i, 480p, and 1080i. If you're using this for regular cable, satellite, or rabbit ears, as well as progressive scan DVDs, this unit is fine. We purchased this TV from a local "warehouse"/club-type store just before Christmas, and have enjoyed every minute of use since then.

The theatre-size picture is clear, bright, and has an almost three-dimensional quality. (At times, the detail you see is a little TOO clear. Who knew our favorite actors look like THAT? :)

The sound quality is good--not great, but certainly adequate. We intend to add a home-theatre system with surround sound at some point. (Don't misunderstand please; adding this isn't necessary, by any means, to enjoy the sound on this tv.)

Finally, the set is lightweight, and setup was a breeze.

Beware that the TV will work beautifully initially but will degrade rather quickly over time. Customer support is also not very knowledgeable.

I have an older version of this TV WD-73727 for over 2 years now and I have to hit the reset button more and more now in order to get the HD tuner to operate. Sometimes the TV would lock up unless the reset button is pressed. Sometimes the TV would not get certain channels unless the reset button is pressed. Sometimes the TV would not get any HD channels at all unless the reset button is pressed. Right now I need to do this about twice a week.

After a while this gets pretty annoying waiting for the TV to reboot. I called customer support to ask for a firmware upgrade as I suspect that it might be a firmware bug since after the reset button is pressed everything works fine. Ended up with an argument with customer support person who claims to know the TV and says that I cannot receive HD signals over the antenna which is clearly false. I never got any firmware from them.

Buy this TV at your own risk. Beautiful when it works. Annoying otherwise.

Brought the box in and when I truned it upright to walk through my hallway I could hear loose parts falling inside the screen housing. Openned box, read instructions and cautiously pulled screen out. The screen came out very easily as if it was not even spring loaded. I was not surprised though, because it would not go back in. Removed the end cap to find the end cap retainer block was in pieces (this is what holds the load on the spring). The plastic is of very poor quality. It is not able to withstand the loads that the spring has on it. So, I am stuck with a screen that will not go up. I would highly recommend another manufacturer. I bought this through my wife's employee discount (She worked at Samsung until last week). I am very impressed with the picture quality though I am only getting over the air signals. Hooked up DVD via component video and the picture quality is impressive. You have many connection options (currently I do not even have that many components). I will try hooking up my PC. Did a lot of research (Extreme Tech and PCNet). I read that some people were disapointed w/ picture quality of regular cable or digital signals. I am not sure what they were expecting. As this is HD ready TV, it truely shines when watching HD broadcasts (according to all reviewers). Personally, I will wait until quality is improved on HD receivers before I go out and buy one- read many complaints of various devices on HD Net.
