Looks nice. I was worried that a pull-down screen would look cheap or would curve in on the sides, but this looks very nice and has worked wonderfully. Having heard and read about DaLite in various places, I thought I would give them a try for my home theater set-up.

Ordered the screen and when I installed it carefully as per specifications (using professional gear including levels), I was sorely disappointed to see that the fabric did not hang properly and had ripples across the viewing surface.

Contacting DaLite service is not easy (despite their warranty) as they insist on your contacting the retailer and the retailer generally not understanding the problem or being sufficiently responsive. Anyway, finally they sent me a replacement screen.

I thought I would forgive and forget their initial defective shipment (after all, we all make mistakes). So, with positive thoughts, I opened and installed the second screen with again a lot of care and time.

Guess what - the problem was not only there, it was WORSE this time. This tells me that this company has a poorly controlled manufacturing process and their quality review is minimal to non-existent. It seems that being in a near monopoly situation does lead to complacency and shoddy standards. I would thus sadly recommend to all to look elsewhere for a quality product - and not waste significant amounts of time with installation and customer service over a poorly manufactured product.

P.S. In addition to the above fundamental issue, there is a major problem with retracting the screen - no matter how careful you are. Again, suggests a poor/basic design that has not been improved given their monopoly position.

I have this tv. Apparently the optical engine on this thing goes at the 2 year point. Sony is very aware of the problem. Lucky for me I spent 340 bucks for an extended warantee. I would suggest you do the same. The optical engine costs $1100 to fix. Depending on your timing of when the thing breaks you could be out a tv for a while since this part gets backordered all the time.

We are extremely disappointed in this T.V. We've had it for a year and a half and have already replaced the lamp twice. Once it was under warranty, but this time we had to shell out the money out of our own pockets, and the lamps are not cheap. We found a "deal" for the lamp and "only" had to pay 180 dollars for it. Toshiba states that the lamp should last an average of 8000 hours, both times we were at about 1200-1500 hours of viewing. Wrote a letter to Toshiba with no response. I love the TV itself, it is excellent in all aspects. As other reviewers have stated though, the bulb has only lasted up to one year and they are expensive. The first one was almost $400 installed. There will not be a second one which is available for $250. The TV is just under 2 yrs old. I own a WD-52628 model. The 52 inch sister to this very model. It actually uses a similar lamp to the 65 inch model. This review applies to ALL MITSUBISHI REAR PROJECTION HD TVs.

After 3 years of ownership, the tv has had numerous problems. Each time the tv is "out" for repairs, it has been in a repair shop for at least 3 months. Maintenance has only taken it out of action for 2-3 weeks waiting for the lamps. I view maintenance and repair as two seperate items.

The first problem that occurred was the blinking red light and no picture. This was due to a burned out light engine, per the repair store. If the warranty had not covered it in the first 180 days, it would have been an $1800 dollar repair, plus labor.

The second issue is with the replacement and dispossal of the $230 lamps that contain mercury. You can't just toss these things into the trash. In the 3 years of ownership, I've gone through four lamps, each costing at least $230, at a cost of roughly a thousand dollars. In 3 situations I had to go through the internet to purchase new lamps. Shipping at first from Mitsubishi took 3 weeks.

This last problem that I am in the middle of now is the dreaded blinking green light on the front. Per several investigative websites(Consumer Affairs, etc.), blinking green light is caused by two different types of situations. The first situation is that one of the two cpu's on the device is not in synchronization with the other cpu. Ergo no fix, just replace the item. The other situation is with the 4 capacitors on the mainboard, either the 4 caps will need to be replaced by new capacitors, and/or the mainboard will need to be replaced.

Minimum cost of repair for the last problem has been estimated at least at $1000 plus labor. The problem is that any solution starts with recognizing a design flaw during manufacturing. The tv sets were assembled with inadequate parts, per some investigatory websites. The parts themselves do not function adequately in the environment created by the rest of the parts inside the tv. The capacitors alone were not meant to handle the electrical load of the mainboard.

There is one positive, the glare is not as much of a problem with this model.Buy Mitsubishi WD-65731 65-Inch 1080p DLP HDTV!

I love this TV. HD is sharp and vivid. The colors are amazing. Its very light weight despite the size. I was so surprised that I could pick this up by myself. I have 2 minor complaints

* it could use a few more HDMI inputs
* included universal remote doesn't have code scan so if its not in the code book your stuck. (I purchased Logitech Harmony remote)

These are minor complaints though. This is an amazing TV.

We purchased this TV in December of 2005 for about $2500. It was great for one year until it started making terrible noises and the picture stopped. Fortunately we bought a warranty, but it cost over $1800 to repair it (which the warranty covered). Within a year, the bulb burned out and this time the warranty wouldn't cover it. We would have had to invest another $5-600 again to make this repair. We tried contacting Sharp hoping to get some assistance since at this point, the repairs on the TV now almost exceeded the original cost of the set to begin with! Sharp refused to help. I initially bought a 56hm168. Within one year, both the lamp exploded (glass all over) AND the light engine died. Toshiba replaced the TV with a 57hm167. A year and a half later - the light engine dies - and this time it is out of warranty. This is a totally different TV, with different production runs, and both have had light engine failures. Cost to repair (if you do it yourself) is $932 for the part. If you have a tech come out and do it, well over $1000. Even getting Toshiba to fix the orginal TV while it was under warranty was as painful as pulling teeth. It took almsot 4 months for them to get it done. The lamp on TV went out in 11 months and the second one went out in 13 months just before this christmas. Each LAMP costs me $250-$300. That means you may have to spend such a cost every year (if you made a wrong decision as I did to buy a Toshiba TV)! I only watch TV less than 3 hours/day. The manual's 6000-8000 hours time for the LAMP is compeletly mis-leading. Think second time when you buy a Toshiba TV and check the internet first to see real reviews. Don't trust Toshiba's manuals. Let me make this review very clear! This RCA HD52W140 Projection TV is absolutely junk. The RCA, Thomson, GE Proscan name is so bad that the dealers are dropping these brands from their offerings and worse, the repairmen refuse to work on these products due to high costs of spare parts and the spare parts not being available (even for a new set), and for the total lack of support from the RCA and related companies support staff. The word is out DON"T BUY RCA, DON'T BUY RCA, DON'T BUY RCA! Can I make this review any clearer? RCA, GE, Proscan and Thomson products are absolute JUNK! I read the other day that Microsoft has made some kind of deal with Thomson for co development of a new product. I have to ask Bill Gates and Microsoft....Where have you got your head buried in the sand at? Search the internet for reviews and troubles with products such as RCA and you will find nothing but negative reviews of their products across the line, maybe with the exception of GE Medical Systems.
Don't trust what I say, do the search people. You will thank me for telling you to do so before buying one of these products.
My TV is Dead and I can't find anyone to repair it and if I did, it would cost more for the repairs than it is worth and the repairman says he can't guarantee the repair due to such poorly manufactured parts used in this product. Many carry made in Mexico markings (sorry about that Mexico) but that's the facts.

I purchased this product over six months ago and waited to review given reported problems with JVC HDILA and related products in the past. I did purchase it refurbished and had a problem right out of the box (would only turn on when it felt like it). However, JVC and authorized service techs were very responsive, making 3 visits before they found a loose cable fitting that caused the issue. It has been trouble free ever since.

Picture quality is excellent - - - no "green edges", no bowing, sharp clean picture. Menu is not exactly intuitive or easy, but neither is it the most difficult I have ever experienced. Lamp has been going strong and I have teenagers, so its been getting more than its share of use. Its not a flat screen, but you know that, and having this narrow profile for a projection TV is wonderful.

One thing to note - the cabinet has a light intrusion sensor that will lock out the hdmi inputs, so DO NOT use a flashlight shining on the inputs to hook things up - it will trigger the light sensor (believing that the cabinet back has been removed) and lock out the inputs. I have stumbled upon the secret code for reset of the hdmi's as have others and it is posted various places on the internet - so, if this happens to you, spend some time on google rather than a $50 service call.Buy JVC HD-58S998 58-Inch Ultra Slim 1080p HDILA Projection HDTV!

We've had this TV for about 4 years now. I think I bought it in 2004. Anyway, at the time it was a good compromise, because flat screen LCD tv's were very expensive, and plasma was a crapshoot as to quality. And DLP was the big deal then. Not anymore. So, this TV's resolution is 1024 X 848. Yes, its a strange resolution, what it really means is that its a hair taller than most widescreen TV's. But its not 1080p. Also, it has NO ATSC tuner - if you want HDTV you have to buy a standalone tuner for it. I knew this when I bought it. Cable company HDTV box will also work. It has NO HDMI connections. Only 1 DVI connector, the rest are component Y/Pb/Pr connections and RCA jacks. But at the time DVI was all the rage and HDMI didnt exist.

Now, the number one expense in this set is the lightbulb. Our first one lasted about 2 1/2 years. We are still on our second bulb, which was not made by Sony and which is not as bright, but it gets the job done. I noticed that light bulbs ( they are called PL-2100U I think) are now down to about $120 - $140. Cheaper than when I bought the first replacement bulb.

Also, standard def TV doesn't look really sharp on these sets. The flat panel LCD sets now everywhere do a better job of this I think. But, I bought this set expecting it to last 10 years, and I have 5 and a half to go, and it seems to be fine. My next set will have a built in tuner and hang on the wall. I think the next revolution in content is going to come from the internet, and you will be able to stream everything from your laptop to your TV. You can do this now easily if you have HDMI. I initiatly spent three weeks looking for the perfect screen in my budget(under $400). I wanted an electric screen with a size of atleast 92". After looking around, I found that with my budget it would be very tough to find something to my liking. I then found the Elite V-Max. It boasts a huge 101" 16:9 screen, perfect for HDTV. At the price it was going for, I could not resist. I quickly ordered and three days later it was at my door.

When I saw it for the first time I couldn't belive how long it was. The box it was shipped in had to be over 100"(8.3ft) long. I did not like the way it was package it the box. There were just four little peices of styfo foam supporting the screen. The product did arrive in great shape, so that might be sufficent enough. Once I had the product out of box, I quickly mounted it on the wall of my new home theater room. This screen is very heavy and ackward, so a second person is a must. The wiring for the screen is very simple. A five foot single wire connects to the top right of the metal casing with a simple locking connector. The controller box then plugs into that and has about a seven foot cord to plug into the wall.

The screen takes about thirty seconds to come fully down, but most projectors take about a minute to warm up, so this is not a problem. There is also a way to adjust the screen stopping distance, but I have not had to use it. The 18" black header is also nice so you don't get destracted to the ceiling. The fabric of the screen also seems to be made of a nice thick high quality material, which can be cleaned with a damp cloth.

Some things to consider with this large of screen is the size of it. The screen width itself is 91" wide. You do need a good size wall to place it on. The projector also needs to go back a little further. Iam using an Infocus IN74 EX projector and it needs to be mounted about sixteen feet back for it to fill the whole screen. Some other projects may require twelve to eighteen feet to fill the whole screen. It is also very heavy, so the mounts need to be screwed into the studs, not just drywall. It comes with two remotes, one RF and one IR, so this is a definate plus. They seem very cheap and flimsy, so I do not use them. I have a learing universal remote, so I use that instead. I would recomend doing the same.

Overall, I love this screen! I am very impressed with the build and quality. The price is also unbeatable. They could ask much more for this screen and I would buy it again. I give this screen two thumbs up and the remote controlls a thumbs down. If you are looking for a great screen on a budget, this is the screen for you. Buy Vmax 16:9 Ez-electric Projection Screen!

My Sony Wega 50" was dying (some sort of mirror issue causing blue streaks in the picture. Its apparently very prevelant in this model, but I have not gotten much response from Sony for a post warranty fix and from what hear its close to $1000 to repair). I was also 2 years + into my second bulb ($400). So I've had my eye out for a larger HD tv for several months now. I dont need PIP (comes with brighthouse DVR) and dont really care about sound since I pipe the cable/DVD audio to my reciever. I was just looking for a big, clear 1080p set. I saw this model in this week's circuit city flyer (Jan 27, 2008) for $1399!. I got the tape measure out to make sure it would fit in my built-in media space and went to CC to check it out. With standard HD inputs (probably 1080i). This set appeared to have the best picture of all the projection units on the wall (with the exception of a Mitubisi 75" unit that the salesman said was playing a 1080p HD DVD). I measured it out, and with my existing tv stand it fit in the media space with about 1 inch to spare on all sides. We loaded it my truck and took it home. In 20 minutes I had it fired up (well, almost, I needed to go buy an HDMI cable for $35). I've only got 1 day on it, but its a stunning picture and makes a huge difference from my 50" Sony. My viewing distance is probably longer than most (maybe 15' to the couch)

Anyway, if you are looking for a decent DLP set with a big picture and dont need a lot of useless bells and whistles get down to CC and check this one out.
For $1600 I'd probably look around a bit more, but at $1399 this set tripped my price trigger and I'm quite happy with it.

I absolutely loved my 61" Samsung! Without a doubt, the best I have owned. However, all good things must end...Mine bit the dust after 10 months of use. First, we lost all red color...then something else went. The good thing about it is that it was still under warranty. We had the local Samsung warranty repair shop take a look at it and they found three defective parts, two of them were in stock. The 3rd pard needed to be ordered. After tree weeks without any communication, we finally found out that there was a backorder for the part we were waiting for. After 6 weeks, I finally called Samsung direct and got someone in the executive department and they were stunned that I had been without the TV for so long. Now, however, we have been informed that Samsung is no longer producing the DLP models and the shortage of parts was key. I have not heard this (discontuing the DLP) from any other source and was skeptical initially. But, because they are replacing the DLP with a highend 52" LCD, I am beginning to wonder.

This was my first leap into HD. Originally I was planning to buy a Samsung HLT6189S but I read some mixed reviews on that unit. I decided to go a little smaller so I bought the HLT5689S. I first hooked it up to my standard defintion box through Directv and noticed an immediate improvement in sharpness versus my old TV....as I would expect since my old unit was at least 15 years old. This past Monday I had Directv come out to install the HD equipment. Right out of the box the picture is amazing. My wife thinks it is almost 3-D. I'm still waiting for my receiver and speakers to be delivered, but in the meantime the speakers on the TV do a very nice job of creating a surround sound experience. We purchased this TV from a local "warehouse"/club-type store just before Christmas, and have enjoyed every minute of use since then.

The theatre-size picture is clear, bright, and has an almost three-dimensional quality. (At times, the detail you see is a little TOO clear. Who knew our favorite actors look like THAT? :)

The sound quality is good--not great, but certainly adequate. We intend to add a home-theatre system with surround sound at some point. (Don't misunderstand please; adding this isn't necessary, by any means, to enjoy the sound on this tv.)

Finally, the set is lightweight, and setup was a breeze.

I have a WD52528 which is basiclly the same set. In two years I had the Store, where I bought it and in warranty, replace the light engin and mirror. Less than another year I replace the lamp, that one was my cost. What I see is if this set is not in a VERY CLEAN enviroment, you will have problems with things like dust, cooking, etc. It will become a very expensive set to maintain and keep the origional picture quality that you start with. I bought this tv when my Sony KP-53XBR300 53" Projection TV went out after six years(the red "pot" went nova) and to fix it was out of the question. As the Sony KP-53V80 had very good reviews I went for it. Bad idea for me as the more I watch it the worse the picture gets. Sharpness was nowhere to be found, the soft colors will not blend, and an all black screen has an area that shows white. The Sony KP-53XBR300 53" Projection TV was the best I had ever seen. The reviewers for the Sony KP-53V80 said it had the best picture. Not this one. I bought this one for the price and the reviews, I should have paid more and got the Sony KP-53XBR300. There's no contest, and it's a crying shame that these sets are a fast dying breed. 1080p, 120hz, HDMI 1.3 support, and an inherently faster refresh rate than ANY LCD panel produced and you've got by far and beyond the absolute best HDTV to reproduce any blu-ray that exists.

Having seen blu-ray on 120hz LCDs, I quickly developed a distaste for the image which due to the problems inherent in digital displays, the look and feel of film had completely disappeared. Pirates of The Carribean: At World's End, looked like it was shot with a nice HD Camera and forgot to undergo the post production processing that makes it film.

However, when it comes to watching HD Video (like HD off-air broadcasts or HD Satellite TV) this set is no slouch. Watching college football on ESPN or CBS will make you cry and almost forget about buying season tickets. The color palette is incredible and the blacks are BLACK, not dark gray or charcoal.

For reference sake, I'm using a Dishnetwork ViP 211 HD Satellite receiver, a Pioneer BDP-51FD Blu-Ray player (best you can by for under $1000, I promise you) and both are jacked in with Accell Ultra Pro AV 2m HDMI 1.3 cables, capable of slinging 10.2 Gbits per second, just like the Monster Cable 1000 HDMI cables for 3 times the price.

I purchased my 50" Samsung HD DLP from Circuit Scity, and while I love having this unit, the picture leaves much to be desired at times. Shortly after buying it, it developed horizontal dark lines about 4" apart eminating from both sides of the screen. There was also an effect called "shimmering" which basically looked like out of focus contour lines around bright sections of the images. Fortunately, I purchased an extended warrantly plan. Circuit City staff was excellent. A technician came out, examined the set and determined it was the light engine. He came back a week later with the part and that greatly improved the picture quality. Shortly after that, it has developed dark shimmering. It's very noticable in low light images, such as when the scene takes place in a dark room or outdoors at night. The dark shimmering makes viewing scenes almost unwatchable. I'll calling for another service appt now. I've always had excellent luck with Samsung products but I'd buy another set if I had to do it over again and do more research of owner's reviews. I purchased the TV on clearance from Circuit City in January. It has a great picture when just hooked up normally. I have it hooked up with hdmi to digital cable and the picture is amazing. The only drawback, (which isn't really a drawback) is that it takes a little while to load (appx 10-12 seconds to see the picture, 20-25 seconds to fully load). This should be treated as a preliminary review, because I've not had a chance to watch content on it yet. However, I have installed it and the screen appears to offer great value given the price. Given its size and weight, it was surprisingly easy to install from the ceiling by myself. Indeed, accurately measuring the mount points was actually the most challenging part of the installation. The pull and retraction action is very smooth. The screen surface is not fancy, but should work well in low and no light conditions. The screen looses a point for some minor ripples along the bottom of the viewable surface, edge curling, and the chemical smell mentioned by other reviewers. This is a fantastic TV. I purchased mine from OneCall, who got it to my house in 3 days. The television arrives in typical packaging: a box-over-crate with styrofoam padding. Even with the crate, the television is light and easy to manage, if not just slightly awkward due to it's sheer size. After un-boxing and removing the protective sheet foam from the television itself, you'll inevitably wonder, "Was my wife right... IS it too big?" Don't worry, that thought passes as quickly as it came. There really is no such thing as too big for TVs, after all.

Out of the box, the picture is great. Most people will probably be satisfied with the picture, but will mess with the controls just because they can. After calibration, though, it's stunning. The available controls in the user and service menu allow for an almost perfect calibration session. There was a very small compromise when it came to tint (the 835 series has PerfectTint, so if you're looking for perfection and don't mind paying a premium for a difference you won't really notice, you should look at that series), but otherwise it's as close to spec as possible.

For HTPC owners, take note that there is no DVI connection, so be sure your video card has an HDMI out or that you pick up a DVI-HDMI adapter. Other than that, it has all the connections you'll need. The NetCommand IR works well with my IR components, including the DirecTV HD DVR. Although, it is a little slow. The slight reduction in button response is well worth not having to have an extra remote laying around and I have the added bonus of hiding all of my components. The two included IR emitters can control multiple devices. The television also has NetCommand HDMI, but I don't have any devices capable of utilizing it.

My only complaint with this Mitsubishi is the included remote is poorly designed. Don't get me wrong, it works well. It's just clunky, ugly, and as ergonomic as a brick. The button layout is far from intuitive... it's backwards from most of the remotes I use. All my other remotes have channel numbers on the bottom, television controls (up, down, left, right, menu, volume, etc) in the middle, and player controls (play, rw, ff, stop, etc) on the top. This one is numbers on the top, television controls in the middle, and player controls on the bottom.

All in all, remote aside, this is the TV you should buy if you're not caught up in the fad of paying 4 times more for the same size screen or paying the same for a 4 times smaller screen simply because you can hang it on the wall. We decided to go HD after a long time of waiting. We, for a very long time, used a Toshiba Rear-projection TV at 50" in our living room. We decided that we would need a TV large enough to take the place of that TV and to make it not look so small. DLP is the right choice for this since you can get a much larger screen size at a lower cost than LCD or Plasma. Since we had good luck with our other rear-projection, we figured that we would have good luck with this TV. Having it for a month now, there have been no issues and our view experience is great. The matted screen makes glares much less harsh (our old TV had a glossy screen). The wight of this TV is extremely light for its size, our friend has a 42" LCD which is much heavier than this. As long as you're planning to put the TV on a stand, the lack of it being a flat panel shouldn't be a big deal. 1080p content through our Xbox 360 is very detailed and sharp and the TV never lags behind nor have I seen any "rainbow effect" from this TV during normal viewing. The only con with this TV is the build in speakers to the TV are very tinny and all around subpar. Although if you use this TV hooked up to an AV receiver you will have no issues, you buy a TV for the picture, not the sound. All around I am very happy we bought this TV. I've had nothing but good luck with Mitsubishi, in fact, we still own an old Mitsubishi console color TV from the early 80s that works perfectly. Got a screen from Amazon.com the first time and the shipping time ws great. After installation we realized the screen comes down, but will not go back into the holder! It takes like FIFTEEN tugs to get it to retract. Frustrated, we gave up and called Amazon for a new one. Being the awesome guys that they are, they sent a new one right away.

This one works marginally better. Most of the time 4" hangs out still. But I can deal with 4". I couldn't deal with 3 feet hanging out! It still might go back.

No written instructions in box; I had to go the Timex website to get the manual. The radio can't get a clear station; it won't stay on the station I put it on. The speakers are so full of static that I can't hear anything clearly even though I put this radio in the same spot as my Sony Dream Machine, which never had a problem with reception.
Time was easy to set and alarm was easy to set but no matter how carefully I read and followed the instructions, I couldn't get the date to start blinking or respond in any way to the "Time Set" button. It refused to budge off of the preset "12-31" date that was on it when I took it out of the box and plugged it in. Followed the entire process 20 times; 45 minutes later the date still showed "12-31". By that time, in my mind I felt like taking the damned thing outside, smashing it on the sidewalk and sending a 3-word e-mail to the manufacturer (F...k you, Timex!!). I have nothing good to say about this piece of crap. I should have listened to all the bad reviews that I read on Amazon and other websites about how junky it is. I only bought it because my son insisted on having one that projected both time and alarm time and this one was the only one that I could find that did that. I found lots that projected time and date or time and temperature but he wouldn't consider those. Timex used to be a reliable brand; I don't know what happened but they should be horsewhipped for selling this garbage. This radio is also supposed to have 4 different sounds (ocean, forest, chimes and heartbeat). I can't get it to do anything but forest; tried about 10 minutes and gave up.

I have owned this screen since July and I must say it has performed perfectly. We keep ours outside on the the patio year round as we watch movies by the pool, and have had no problem with it. The screen material is durable and displays a very sharp image from an entry level projector. I looked at the Dalite screens at the same size, but I wasnt willing to spend $1200-1500 just for a brand name. Elite screens has got a lifetime customer!

We bought a Sanyo PLV-Z5 projector, and have it set up in our living room. I wanted a pull down screen so our living room did not have to be a full time theater. I read a lot about screens, and in general, much more high end screens were recommended. Maybe the movie connoisseur with a more depicting eye would not be pleased with this screen, but we have been thrilled. Content has been very bright and vivid, and contrast better than any television we have ever had. We just use it for watching movies, and do not have any high-def sources, but I doubt it would make any difference.

The only downside is that this screen does have a bit of a wave in it. After it has been up for a while, we have to tension the bottom corners to pull it flat. This is only noticeable in scenes with a lot of horizontal motion across the screen, and when we add tension, we do not notice it.

Overall, if one does not want a fixed screen, I think this is a great screen, and I could not find a better price anywhere.

This was a replacement for a similar LaCrosse projection alarm/weather unit which had worked fine for years until squirrels destroyed the exterior sending unit. The new one looks better and has a somewhat clearer display. However, the sending uint seems to be off about 6 degrees and I have written the company via e-mail twice. In both cases they have posted a notice that they are overwhelmed with post-holiday messages and support requests so it could take a couple of weeks to hear from them. I find this unusual, at best. Also, I do not understand why when the unit it running on AC power rather than batteries the backlight cannot stay on. The instruction/owner's manual is not eay to read and setting are not intuitive. As I had a similar unit, I was better prepared than a new comer" might be to follow the instructions. This screen works great for me. I bought a Full HD projector and wanted to get all my money's worth. Some forums said a white sheet would work fine but I figured if I were spending the money for HD that I would want the full meal deal. I was a little afraid by the other reviews of some of the screens showing up damaged but hoped that since these accidents had occured that the company took extra measures to make sure they came out properly. That was the case for mine. I've had it hung up in my Movie Room for a couple months now and every time I fire up "Old Beautiful" I'm still amazed at the quality. My projector came the day before my screen and I wanted to set it up and get an idea of what it would look like so I did hang up a sheet for the first day. What a difference when I put up the screen. Like the difference between instant coffee and french press... sure, it will take care of your needs, but there's so much more yet to be had. Oh, ya... and by the way, there were many screens out there that were listed as "120 inches" but the big deal was finding one that was that large with a 16:9 ratio. Sure you can find one that's simply 120 inches, but when you try to fit your 16:9 widescreen into a 4:3 ratio, or even worse a 1:1, you only end up with a 90 or 100 inch image. How lame to spend all that time and money and not even get your whole picture! That was what sold me on this screen. I was a bit worried about purchasing a DLP based TV as the LCDs looked sharper in the stores. But since most stores had something pretty crappy hooked up to any DLPs, I checked out the 65" version of this TV in a high-end store where they bothered to set it up right and it looked pretty good. (Still not as sharp as a LCD.)

Now that I've been using the TV for a little while, I can confirm that it provides a picture way sharper than you see in the theatre. In fact, if you don't adjust a few settings in the TV to remove film grain (adjust the sharpness and video noise controls), the film grain can be a bit annoying in some movies.

I am very happy with this product for the money I paid and the result I got in return. I have it installed in my bed room and I project from 12' and it projects to 70" x 40" and talking of high def .. Its just wonderful and you gain 1.1 on your screen.

The only thing which bothered me was the size as (in width); so if you are looking to hook it into the beams for stronger support, beams are usually 12" apart so If you got the hook into one hook, the other hook will be few inches short, lets say 3/4 inches .. I got over it by installing decorative chandelier chains. It actually looks very nice and my wife didn't hate it ..

Bottom line, Its a great buy and I have suggested almost all my friends who owns projectors or thinking of getting one. If I may add, do not forget to get free projector mount when you buy this screen. Customer service was great and they shipped my projector mount even before they received serial number of the projector screen from me as par the promotion advertisement..

Thinking of getting one in this price range -- go for it, two thumbs up ..

I bought this screen for our home theater after reading many reviews of the major brands (Stewart, Dalite, etc.). Someone on a message board recommended this brand (which I'd never heard of before). The last thing this TV needed was another 5 star review, but I just had to give my 2 cents. This is my first big screen television and after doing plenty of research there was no question that this was the set for me. I bought in September, hoping that I'd be watching the Cubs in the World Series on it. Oh well, that didn't go as planned, but I then had it for football season. Just amazing picture. I have a home theatre, so audio was never used. I have a PS3 and it looks spectacular.

I will say that you should never buy Monster Cables for HDMI. Go to amazon and look at HDMI cables. I bought the SUPER cheap ones for 2 bucks plus shipping. They are good overall. Serviceable. I know that a lot of people believe that a digital signal is a digital signal and I'm not an engineer so I can't argue. I was having issues with my PS3 HDMI with red lines and I'd have to shake the cable a bit, but hey, I spent [...] bucks on cables. I decided to buy a couple MEDIABRIDGE 1.3 cables for 10 plus shipping. The picture is just as good, but the cable is much MUCH sturdier than the super cheap one. When you hold the 2 in your hands there is a noticeable difference in weight and how much more solid the mediabridge is. I highly recommend it.

As for the TV, BUY IT, BUY IT BUY IT!!! I got mine for $[...] plus 4 years extended warranty at Best Buy. Best value out there. Buy Samsung HL50A650 50-Inch 1080p Slim DLP HDTV!

70" Widescreen Tv HD-ila

I've had this television for about two years now. When I purchased it they were around five thousand dollars. I've seen them for sale now for about three thousand recently. I think this is owing to the television being only 780p, versus 1080i or 1080p. Unless you are planning on viewing a lot of blu-ray or hd dvd's, be aware that even the best signal from a dvd or satelitte, won't get you to 1080i. This being said the television is terrific in bright light, which is why I purchased it in the first place. The combination of an extremely bright picture and an anti-reflective coating on the screen means you can watch the screen even with direct sunlight on the screen. The one issue I had with the JVC, is the first bulb burned out at six months. I had purchased an extended warranty, so I was covered. The tech came out and changed it in about five minutes. Since then the second bulb has been going for about a year and a half. At two hundred a pop, I would seriously recommend getting the warranty. Other than that, awesome TV, your visitors will be shocked at the sheer enormity of the screen. 4 times the screen size of a 42" plasma, think about it...Buy 70" Widescreen Tv HD-ila!

I purchased this screen to use in my living room theater. It is functional but not outstanding. It is worth what I paid for it. The instructions were not the best but set-up was still fairly easy. The only real problem is that it came with a large but very slight discoloration. I think it's probably from getting wet at some point during shipping. The screen cloth is in the washing machine as I type this; if the stain remains I will not be happy. UPDATE: The discoloration/stain is gone after washing, all is well.

Pros:
Much cheaper than other screens in this size.

Machine washable screen surface.

Easy to remove/reinstall once wall clips are properly mounted.

Cons:
Flimsy screen border, if you don't position the four included wall clips exactly right the screen will not stay on the wall.

Only comes with four wall clips, six would be much better, eight would be perfect.

My mother purchased this television over 3 years ago. She's retired so it's running about 6 hours a day. Still using the original bulb. HD programing and BR discs look great. SD programing is ok. While researching this television, I read about users having problems with frequent bulb replacement. These bulbs are a "metal halide" type, which is why they cost $175 to replace. After reading some electronic forums about these bulbs, I found that one reason for the early bulb failure MAY be powering the tv on and off multiple times a day. For this reason I told my mother once she turned her tv on, not to turn it off until she went to bed. The features and functionality of this unit are pretty complete overall. The combination of iPod dock and time projection at this price makes it attractive, if that's what you are seeking, especially considering the lack of alarm volume control reported on the Excalibur 134BK Soundmaster and the host of issues associated with the HoMedics SS-7000.
However, the Emerson has its share of notable nits.
1) The sensor function used for snoozing is very cool but dangerous if you wish to avoid oversleeping. The range is too far and if the unit "senses" you within 2 feet, it will immediately snooze at the designated alarm time before the iPod can even turn on and wake you. The sensitivity can be moderated with a piece of Scotch tape placed half way over the sensor, but this is a bit unreliable as well.
2) The buttons for setting alarms, etc. are loud. If your partner goes to bed before you and you need to adjust the alarm setting, you risk waking him/her with the loud clicking noises.
3) On the particular unit I bought (and returned) the time projection was faulty. I would hope this to be an anomaly but it's certainly a concern regarding quality.
If you can get past the sensor issue and loud buttons, then you might be happy with this unit. I ultimately splurged and invested a few more coins for the equivalent but far superior Gigaware product, which can be found at the Radio Shack website.Buy Emerson iPod Projection Clock Radio - IC172!
